Dvora’s heartfelt portrait gallery

When I travel abroad, I enjoy meeting and observing at people and the more diverse, exotic even bizarre, the better. While I don’t always draw a portrait, I ended up with a variety of works.

Every portrait that is painted with feeling is a portrait of the artist, not of the sitter.

Oscar Wilde

You can see self-portraits, portraits of family members, one political portrait and a couple of caricatures. I hope you enjoy this collection of portraits.

A portrait can evoke powerful emotions and I use these to make a range of artistic statements about the subjects and I guess about me as an artist.

Rabbi Portrait and miniatures

For a stamp bid, I painted portraits of famous Rabbis. A Rabbi is a jewish religious leader and their portraits are a burgeoning industry in some parts of Israel. The Postal authority did not issue the stamps. But this led me to the area of miniatures. The stamp illustrations are technically too big to be miniatures. But I drew a miniature portrait and then more and more. You should be able to see these here as I expand the galleries.
